Teaching Summer Ballet Camp
Hello! My name is Madeleine Chen and I am a rising sophomore at The Hockaday School. I have been so fortunate to be trained with classical ballet technique since age 7 from Ms. Jacqueline Porter, the founder and artistic director of The Dallas Conservatory (TDC), a two-time YAGP Outstanding Teacher recipient, and Ms. Olga Pavlova, a world-renowned prima ballerina who trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow (winning the YAGP Outstanding Teacher Award in 2021).
I have been honored to represent TDC as a soloist to participate in YAGP regional semi-finals since age 9 and blessed to have been invited to the YAGP World Finals two years in a row as a top winner from the regional semi-finals in 2020 & 2021 (2nd place in Junior contemporary as well as 3rd place for Junior classical).
Growing up with the training I have received, I have been offered many opportunities to participate in the Nutcracker ballet dancing numerous roles over the years, including some leading roles in recent years, such as Clara and Sugar Plum Fairy, which have given me much stage experience and it has taught me a lot about preparation for the stage.
I am so lucky to have received such a well-rounded dance education and am also very appreciative for the amazing support from the community that I have grown up with. In return, I’d love the opportunity to share my passion and ballet / contemporary education and performance experience this summer with friends, like you, who have the same love and passion for dance.
